Our Summer in Tehran (59min) English, Persian & French w/subtitles
Invited Guest: Justine Shapiro, Director
Our Summer in Tehran transports us into the seldom seen realm of middle class family life in Iran, transcending overt politics in favor of subtle, human and often humorous moments. In an act of "citizen diplomacy," Justine Shapiro, a Jewish-American filmmaker, takes her 6 year old son with her to Tehran to spend the summer with 3 families. The documentary film was shot in kitchens, a day care center, a shopping mall, the bazaar, on the subway, in a theater, on a soccer field - realms of Iranian life that rarely receive media attention.
"Our Summer in Tehran is an antidote to Islamophobia; the world needs this movie now more than ever." - Author Stephen Most
"Shapiro becomes for her viewers a role-model of how to become an effective citizen diplomat" - Joan Brodsky Schur, Educational Consultant
