Articles & Databases
The Library subscribes to databases that contain articles and reseach materials that are not available on the open Internet. All
databases may be accessed from inside the Library. Most databases may be accessed from home using your library card and PIN; please see notes for each database.

Search for books at libraries in California and across the United States. To request a book from another library, please ask at the Reference Desk or call 789-2661.

Literary Reference Center (In-Library use only)

LRC is a comprehensive database that combines information from over 1,000 books and monographs, major literary encyclopedias and reference works, and hundreds of literary journals.

MyiLibrary Audio Booksnew(Requires MARINet library card)
MyiLibrary is a new shared collection of over 500 downloadable audio books. This collection is 100% compatible with both Macintosh computers and Windows PCs. Books may be transferred to iPods using either platform. A copy of the free Ingram Media Manager must be installed to download audiobooks from MyiLibrary.
Loan periods are from 7 to 21 days. Holds may be placed on items currently checked out. There are no early returns once an item has been downloaded.

A collection of over 5000 full-text electronic books.

Especially for our younger readers! This special access to the NoveList database has been designed with children in mind. It makes it easy to find good books to read.

Overdrive Digital Book and Music Download Center
(Requires MARINet library card & PIN.)

The Overdrive/Califa Digital Download Center features hundreds of ebooks, audio books, and digital music that you can download for use on your personal computer, PDA, or portable MP3 player. These materials are not available for download to Library computers.

Safari Tech Books Online (Remote access requires MARINet library card & PIN.)
A shared collection of e-books on computer topics from Safari Tech Books Online, including titles published by O'Reilly Press.

World of Poetry (In-Library use only)
World of Poetry (Access from home or work; Belvedere & Tiburon residents only)
Columbia Granger's full-text database of poetry, with commentaries & biographies.

Amazon.com Books
Search for a title to see both professional and reader reviews.

Bartleby.com Online Books
An alphabetical index to full-text classics available for free from Bartleby.com.

Google Book Search
Googles collection of scanned books; most are preview-only.

Internet Archive Ebook and Text Archive
A free collection of fiction, popular books, children's books, historical texts and academic books. .

LibriVox
Free downloadable audio of public-domain books recorded by contributors to the site.

Project Gutenberg
A library of over 19,000 free electronic books whose copyright has expired in the United States.
