Upcoming Wednesday Workshops
Fall 2008
Below is a schedule of upcoming free computer and Internet workshops offered by the Belvedere-Tiburon Library Reference Department. Some workshops will be hands-on using the Library's laptop computers. For these workshops, every attendee will have his or her own computer to practice with. Because of the limited number of computers available, advance registration will be required for hands-on workshops. Please call the Reference Desk at 789-2661 to sign up, or stop by the desk any time during open hours. For repeat classes from previous months, preference will be given to patrons who have not taken the class before. The Library also offers free 1-on-1 Internet training by the Netsharks team of volunteer trainers. 

Wednesday, September 3
Introduction to My Yahoo!
7:30pm in the Founders Room
If you already Yahoo!, the next logical step is to gather your favorite yahoo searches in to your own home page. Librarian Heather Anne Lamb will show you how to create your own My Yahoo! page and how to include helpful content such as: your local weather, favorite news, comics, recipe of the day, stock prices, RSS feeds and more. First Friday Drop-in Computer Lounge

10:30am-noon in the Founders Room
Feeling challenged because you don't know how to use a computer? Conquer your frustrations and join us for a non-threatening drop-in computer lab. We'll set up our laptop computers in the Founders Room, and a librarian will be there to help you get started and answer your questions.
*Improve your mouse skills by playing simple mouse-practice exercises.
*Learn to type with Mavis Beacon software.
*Exercise and challenge your brain with free online brain games: play sudoku, solitaire, chess, work a crossword puzzle, or learn a new game.

MS Word 2003-Class 1
7:30pm in the Founders Room
Patty Hoyt leads this first class in our 3-part Microsoft Word 2003 series. This is a hands-on introduction to the popular Microsoft Word 2003 word-processing program. Patty will introduce the Word menus, and toolbars and basic editing commands. This is an introductory class. Attendees should have taken Basic Windows or have equivalent experience. Attendees must have ability to use the keyboard and mouse, and be familiar with using Windows menus and toolbars. Space is limited! Creating a Free EMAIL Account with Google's Gmail
2-3:30pm in the Founders Room
Librarian Abbot Chambers recommends Google's Gmail as the best free email service for speed, ease of use, search features, and unobtrusive advertising. The class will begin with everyone creating their own free Gmail account and continue on to reading and writing email and tips and tricks for making the most of your Gmail account.
